WELCOME TO ADVANCED LEARNING

Ms. Winzy Adams is a secondary school teacher of twenty years. She studied Computer Science at The University of the West Indies and started teaching Information Technology and Mathematics at Bishop Anstey High School (her alma mater), in 1999. 
Her passion for working with young people and concern for their holistic well-being and development as well as her mastery of creative and engaging teaching pedagogy have resulted in her promotion to the post of Sixth Form Dean in 2005. Ms. Adams holds a Masters degree in Education (General) from Framingham University (Massachusetts, USA) via the International School of POS, a Masters in Education (Youth Guidance), as well as a Masters in Philosophy in Educational Psychology from the University of the West Indies, where she is currently pursuing a PhD, focusing her research on Adolescent Stress, Coping and Wellbeing. 

In January 2016, she attended an International Visitor Leadership Program entitled “Education in the Digital Age.” Her visits to The United States of America and her exposure to innovations in education have broadened her perspective as an educator. These experiences have encouraged her in her the desire to work, with various communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean region, towards inspiring youth to fulfil their potential, thus empowering them to become leaders of tomorrow.

During the past eight years Ms. Adams has been engaged in establishing and providing low-cost, after-school, remedial educational programs, for academically struggling students and young adults who previously dropped-out of the education system for various reasons.

In April 2016, Ms. Adams founded the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Advanced Learning Educational Support Centre in her community of Maraval.
The Advanced Learning Educational Support Centre was established with a vision to provide the most effective educational support service to primary and secondary students, as well as adults in Trinidad and Tobago. She and her team aim to offer a wide range of services in an environment where students are always engaged by caring, patient and professional staff. Her main objective is to develop an effective learning environment, where every student’s outcome is a successful one.

The institution aims to provide three major services:
(1) Professional development for teachers and other adults in the communities we serve. 
(2) Effective pedagogy to maximize learning outcomes and holistic development of our nation’s youth. 
(3) Psychometric testing and development of Individual Educational Programs (IEPs), best suited to meet each learner’s needs.

Ms. Adams is grateful for the contribution of her community in her development, and is eager to give back by providing educational support programs to inspire individuals like her, whose background is steeped in poverty and who originates from single parent homes, as she did during the formative years of education. Ms. Winzy Adams is living testimony that an appreciation for educational opportunities, coupled with perseverance and commitment holds the true power to transforming lives.
